Caixa Rural Altea originated in the Credit Department of the Cooperativa Agrícola de Altea, which was founded in 1965. Three years later, on 30 January 1968, it was transformed into a Credit Cooperative and renamed Cooperativa de Crédito de Altea, Sociedad Cooperativa Limitada, striving to meet the financial needs of its members by providing credit entity services, carrying out the asset and liabilities operations and services that constitute banking activity, focusing primarily on the rural world. Later on, the General Assembly Meeting held on 21 June 1998 approved the change in corporate name to Caixa Rural Altea, Cooperativa de Crèdit Valenciana.
